What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

I was most surprised to learn that over 1000 soldiers landed with bicycles on Juno beach. They thought they could use them in battle but discovered it was too much work so they ended up ditching the bikes in the water.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

This is a historical moment for Canadians, where soldiers lost their lives at a very young age so that we could enjoy our freedom today.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

In 5 years I will be 16 years old. Hopefully I will be playing soccer and hockey and going to school with my friends. These young boys had to go to war. They had to become men when they were really only boys and didn't get to enjoy the freedom I have in my life.
