Amazing Women

This project is about three amazing women of Canada. Those three people being Viola Desmond, Kim Campbell, and Charlotte Monture.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

I learned that Charlotte Monture was the first Indigenous person to become a nurse. I also learned that she was the first female status Indian band member to gain the right to vote in a Canadian federal election.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

I have learned about how three inspiring people fought for women's rights and why they did.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

I would say that life is a lot easier today than it was for Viola Desmond and Charlotte Monture. I would say this because when they were living, it was a lot harder to do what you think was right, create change and inspire others around you, especially if you were a minority. I find these three women inspiring because they did just that.
