Joseph Brant

Mohawk warrior and political leader Joseph Brant's life and my connection to him.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

The most interesting thing that I learned about Joseph Brant was that he traveled to England to meet King George III and was chosen to lead a British army.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

Through working on this project, I've learned that it is important to share the stories of our ancestors and be proud of who we are and where we come from. Celebrating our differences brings us closer together as one huge family.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

My life is so much different than Joseph Brant's as he was facing his biggest fears every day fighting to protect his people and I am focused on playing guitar and schoolwork. The sacrifices that our ancestors made brought us to where we are today and we can learn from their mistakes as well as their successes. These lessons help us work together to improve the quality of life for all Canadians while being a good neighbour to other citizens around the world.
