Emily Carr

Emily Carr was a Canadian artist and author and was very important to Canadian history. She was inspired by Indigenous culture and continued to express that through her work.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

I learned about life in the late 1800s and early 1900s as a female artist. and I learned about new art styles as well.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

I want to share Emily's story as a female artist who had an aboriginal art style. I want to share that art is as important to Canada just as politics are, just in a different way.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

I would say that while there are still gender stereotypes and things, it is much easier to be a female as well as have recognition than it was back then. it is a much more free world to express yourself in anyway.
