Les Guides du Canada

My project is all about the Girl Guides of Canada. It is a timeline of the things that have happened over the years.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

Most girls have been though some type of gender discrimination. As a Guide myself, I have been though some "girl's can't play sports." I once had a boy ask me if my team was going to the basketball championship. When I said yes, he asked me if my team was all girls. When I said yes, he said "you're so going to lose!"

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

Us girls have a chance. We made Guides, and we still have it running.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

The Fondre was rich and she had one real older brother, a stepmother, and 6 step siblings. Her and her brother would often go into the play room and lock the door. I'm not rich, but I have 4 younger brothers!
