Hutterite Colonies and their way of life

Sharing information about two Hutterite Colonies, one in Saskatchewan and one in Manitoba to learn about the people, their lifestyle and beliefs.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

It's like a small town and they are technical in manufacturing, advanced in farming and amazing cooks.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

What most people say or think about Hutterites is not true and they should see for themselves without making assumptions. We need to learn not to pre-judge people, we are all unique and yet so similar at the same time. Their communal living allows for shared resources, less waste and contributions from everyone. They are self sufficient in supporting everyone that lives there from the very young to the elderly.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

My life revolves around mass media and technology such as phones, computers and TV while Hutterites use technology in work, but when they are done working for the day they focus on family, religion and quality time with the people around them.
