Inspector WJD Dempster

A look at the life of RCMP Inspector WJD Dempster when he lived in the Yukon. Told from the perspective of me, his great-granddaughter, as related to me by his daughter Sheila - my grandmother, with photos from our family albums.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

Details about the event that helped make my great-grandfather famous, the story of the Lost Patrol.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

That there are many people who have made significant contributions to Canada, but who remain not well known to much of the country.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

My life is a lot easier, since I live in a city with the benefits of technology, and many people I can rely on, when compared to the isolated settlements in the Yukon, and the need for people to be self-sufficient.
