Battles in New Brunswick
What battles were fought in New Brunswick, who fought these battles and why? In my movie I focus on the major battles that happened as I go visit those sites. I actually found many more battles, 23 in total, that happened in New Brunswick. I created a website, Battles-in-NB.com, where you can find more information about them.
What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?
I learned many interesting things. Like how many battles were fought here. The most interesting though, would probably be, the fact that one of the battles was started by a bear.
What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?
We know a lot about the wars and battles that occurred outside of Canada, but we know little about the wars and battles that happened here inside Canada. These wars in New Brunswick were important because they helped make Canada what it is today.
How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?
Now, we never have to worry about raids, attacks, and our houses being burnt. In those days, the Acadians, Maliseet, Mi'kmaq, and British all had to worry about their safety. Soldiers and militia could suddenly destroy their lives.
