Gulf of Georgia Cannery
The Gulf of Georgia Cannery is one of BC's most illustrious salmon canneries, located in Steveston. This cannery is known throughout BC and is surrounded by other canneries that formed after it earned its popularity.
What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?
I want other Canadians to realize that anything can be accomplished, as long as you commit to it and try your best.
What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?
Nothing much would be thought of when you think of a salmon cannery. Many people don't know that there were so many events (WW2 related) that also affected the cannery tremendously
How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?
It was a lot different back then. The community was very anti multicultural, as well as being racist. Today, everything is so much different. There is way less criticism and discrimination.
