Gold Fever

My project is about The Klondike Gold Rush and the impact it had on the development of the Yukon Territory. The Gold Rush brought people and an infrastructure to a region that was not developed.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

The most interesting thing I learned was how people were so eager to leave their lives to go explore for Gold. They would spend all their money on the voyage to get to the Yukon in hopes of finding gold. I also found it interesting to learn how they panned for gold.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

I've learned that historical events are important to learn and study about. They give valuable insight to many present days situations. I think it's important for Canadians to study our nations history.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

My life today is much more easier than the lives of prospectors during the Gold Rush. I've got quick access to transportation and help while those in the past struggled with getting to their destination.
