What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

Bill Miner was a bandit, yet he is regarded like a hero in our history. His story is very widely told and he is one of the most popular figures of the C.P.R. and Canada. His legacy has lasted to this day, although he was a criminal. This shows that a story that is different from the others will capture a lot of attention, we should look for these stories and retell them, that way people will discover much more about their history than they would if they were under the belief that history is boring.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

There is more to our heritage and history than what you learn about in school, you have to look around and discover what you have not seen. Canada's history is rich in diversity, there are many extraordinary stories waiting to be told again. Your past may be different from other people's, but one thing is the same with everyone: your stories and heritage make up who you are as a person, it defines you and makes you unique.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

If someone were to be like Bill Miner today, he wouldn't be looked up to as a legend, his story wouldn't be told as much, because while back in the eighteenth century, there weren't as many criminals as there are now, and someone who robbed trains was quite a rare occurrence.
