Canadian Pacific Railway

The Canadian Pacific Railway is a key component in Canadian history that has essentially shaped what Canada is today. Without it, we wouldn't be the united country that we are today!

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

The most interesting thing I learned about while doing this project was definitely how small Canada was during the days of confederation. We have grown from just four provinces in 1867 to 10 (and three territories) today!

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

I'd like others to others to be aware of how rich Canada's history is. I have learned about the ups and downs about our country, and I think others should know how difficult it was to create the country we live in today.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

My life today is, undoubtedly, drastically different from the lives of people during the times of confederation. Today, I live in a country that people from 149 years ago had to adapt toCanadians had to adapt to a new life in a larger union, and for some it was a big deal.
