World War 1 and Nova Scotia

This year I did my heritage fair project on World War 1 and Nova Scotia. I found that World War 1 affected Nova Scotia AND that Nova Scotia affected World War 1.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

The most interesting thing that I learned was that Nova Scotia affected the war in such a large way. I knew that Nova Scotia impacted the war and going through my research I realized just how much. It would be interesting to see what the war would have been like without Nova Scotia and what Nova Scotia would have been like without the war.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

I started my research thinking that the war affected Nova Scotia. However through my research I discovered that Nova Scotia had a large impact on the war. So the lesson I learned was that a small province like Nova Scotia can affect something as big as a world war.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

During the war, life would have been very scary if you lived in the war zone. Just going outside you would worry about getting shot. But today we can go outside and do whatever we want without that worry.
