My project is about the snowshoe.  In my video I will explain its history, different forms and how they were traditionally made.  I will explain how snowshoeing became something I was very interested in.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

I was interested to learn the origins of the snowshoe and its journey to North America across the Bering Straight. Also, how the snowshoe was traditionally made and how men and women played different roles in the making of snowshoes.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

I started snowshoeing and realized it was something I really liked. I encourage others to try new things because you never know when you might find something you enjoy.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

First Nations people used snowshoes to hunt and travel and snowshoes were important to their survival. Snowshoeing today is mainly for sport but still provides a way to connect with nature.
