Women in Society

I did my heritage fair project in women in Canadian society.  It's about how women's role in society was changed over the past 100 years or so.  In my topic I talked about how the world wars affected women, the feminist movement and how this topic affects myself and Canada.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

My favourite thing to learn about was the feminist movement. I like it because I believe that it had the biggest impact on society. The feminist movement opened many new doors for women and earned them many rights and freedoms that we have today.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

I believe this topic is very important in Canadian history. I think it's important that people know what women had to go through in order to be in the position we are in today. It affects the opportunities young girls all across Canada are be offers today and how they how we are living their lives.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

I am very grateful for the life I have. Before the feminist movement most women never had a job and had little rights. I consider myself very lucky for the rights And equality I have today.
