Royal Tyrrell Museum

My project is about the life of Joseph Burr Tyrrell and the museum that was named after him. I also talk about the Royal Tyrrell Museum and what it has to offer.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

The most interesting thing I learned about my topic is that the Albertosaurus is a close cousin to the Tyrannosaurus Rex and that Joseph Burr Tyrrell discovered the skull by accident, and sometimes the greatest discoveries come from accidents!

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

That if the museum was never built, Drumheller would be a a ghost town because back in the days nobody wanted coal. But because of the fossils being discovered, Drumheller has become a place for researchers to come together from around the world

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

Today we have technology that allows us to search information a lot faster during the time that Tyrrell was alive. We have more access to tools that can help further the discoveries that are being made but we wouldn't have anything to base it off without the work of Joseph Burr Tyrrell.
