Billy Bishop

It is about Billy Bishop and his inspiration to be a pilot. It shows how even though you’re not perfect, you can still become an inspiration and a hero.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

I learned that Bishop had some physical disabilities and still fought to become a pilot. Also, even though he was told by doctors that he couldn't be a pilot, he still went and completed his piloting training. Another thing I learned was that if you want something badly enough, you could achieve it, no matter what it is.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

I have learned that grades aren't the most important thing and fitting in doesn't necessarily mean that you will become a person with many achievements. Also, I learned that every little effort will eventually pay off. I think that every Canadian should hear those lessons.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

My life is pretty easy and filled with freedom compared to Billy Bishop's and the people's lives during his time. Today, I don't have to worry about only being able to do housework when I grow up. I can actually get education and be independent.
