Lester Bowles Pearson
While I was doing research, I found out some very interesting things. I never new that Lester was the one who introduced the flag to Canada. When I was done my project, I was very proud of my hard work and how my project looked.
What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?
I learned many interesting things in my project. Three of the most interesting things are the fact that Mr. Pearson is the first and only Canadian to win the Nobel Peace Prize, and that he was responsible for our National Flag. In addition, I never knew that Lester B Pearson was the most athletic prime minister.
What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?
I learned that Lester B Pearson is the only Canadian who won the Nobel Peace Prize. I think that we should be courageous and try to solve problems without fighting just like him. We should also be determined like him if we want something really badly because Lester was determined and kept trying really hard to get a new flag for Canada so, he got what he wanted
How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?
At the time of Pearson, people were living lives of fear because there was World War I and other wars. When Pearson became prime minister, he introduced peacekeeping but bringing a change to Canada wasn't that easy. Today, Canadians are used to bringing peace over the world and they are not fearful anymore. Because of the United Nations, there aren't many wars.
