Life Stories & Legacies: Art Denbow

I interviewed our family friend, Art Denbow, and I learned about his life, family history, and his childhood growing up in rural Manitoba.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

People surprise you, and when you take the time to talk and learn from them, your life is better. Our elders have a lot to teach us, and young people need to listen.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

It's important for traditions to be passed on from one generation to the next. Spending time with an older person provides for a rich experience. You can learn a lot from elders.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

Our lives are faster paced and less connected. In many ways they are more complicated. There is something to be said for getting back to basics.
