The Great Depression

This project is about the hardships Canadians faced during the Great Depression.  It is also about the solutions Canadians came up with in response to the challenges they faced.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

Boy and Girl Scouts from Winnipeg helped those in need survive. They collected and sent clothes, food and clean water to people in need. Many of our great and grandparents may not have survived without the help of the Boy and Girl Scouts.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

We need to be thankful for what we have. Times can be way harder. We need to remember the lessons taught to us by the people who lived in these times.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

Our life today is much easier. Children do not have to work for food. Most Canadians now have running water and electricity. There are more jobs available for people.
