How Has Photography Changed the Way We Document History?

My question is, how has photography changed the way we document history? I wanted to find out how photography changed our lifestyle and how we live today.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

The most interesting thing I learned about my topic is that the first-ever camera invented was actually used by artists to look at images and draw them. But then in 1827, Joseph Nicephore Niepce invented a way to capture those images.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

I have learned that photography is such a huge part of our life now and that we don't even notice how we use it a lot and that if photography wasn't invented then we would not be able to capture our memories with friends, family, and other important memories.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

I would say that now with photography, most people can actually afford taking pictures and having their own cameras where back then, only the rich could afford it, it was very new so a lot of people had to sit still for their portraits. But today all we have to do is set ourselves up so that we can get our picture taken in just a second.
