Le Premier Hiver de Jacques Cartier au Canada

This project surrounds the fact that Jacques Cartier tries to discover new territories and find treasure for his king. Also, he suffers from an illness that is pretty hard to cure.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

The most interesting thing that I learned was that Jacques Cartier could discover Canada. He wanted to discover a country and he did. They didn't have much food and they still survived.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

I've learned that a long time ago, it was hard to survive very cold winters. It was very difficult to keep certain foods for long periods of time. Also, it was challenging to survive illness in that era.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

We have electronics and they didn't. We have nice warm houses and they didn't; their houses were very cold and small. We have connections with hospitals and doctors and they couldn't connect with them because they didn't have doctors and hospitals
