Farming In The Eyes Of Women

My project is based on what farming was like as a women when my great-grandmother was a little girl. I talk about the many roles women did daily along with the challenges that they faced.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

That we should all be thankful for what we have because women on the farm didn't have a lot and the stuff that they did have was worked hard for. Also, we should be thankful for all the technology that we have today because doing things the old fashion way wasn't always easy, it often took hours to do.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

The most interesting thing that I learned about my topic was that one of the challenges women faced was loneliness, I would have never thought that would be a struggle!

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

VERY different. Today it doesn't take a lot of effort to do laundry, we don't have to make the food that we eat, we go to a store and buy it. I could not imagine living in times like this.
