A History Timeline of the Town of Ajax

A history of the founding and naming of the town of Ajax.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

Well, you can't find everything online! It is extremely important to use all sorts of different sources like the library. It was hard to find information online, so I used my local library. Something interesting that I learned was that it was the woman that worked in the bomb plants. It was very interesting to learn that because I know that in those times woman were underestimated. But it had to be the women because the men were away fighting in the war.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

Something I would like to share with other Canadians is that there is always more to a place then what meets the eyes. Today you would find Ajax a quiet place with not much to it. However if you look deeper into the history of the place you will find some very interesting things to share with others. Most importantly, do not be afraid of big books and long paragraphs they are very helpful and interesting to read.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

Well, today I don't have to live in fear of being blown-up, unlike the young women who went to work in bomb plants in Ajax. I am very grateful that I don't have to risk my life making explosives when I'm older. Instead I get to go to university to get an education for which I am extremely happy.
