Gabrielle Roy

My project is about an author named Gabrielle Roy, whose books are about feminism, and are very inspirational to people.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

The most interesting thing that I have learned about my topic (Gabrielle Roy) is that she was just a normal girl, in a normal family, and she did not want to follow the plans that her parents said that she should. She wanted to go through life the way she wanted, not the way people told her to, even with all that pressure she continued.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

Some important lessons that I have learned are that we are all the same and that you shouldn't treat people differently because you don't have the same hair or the same skin, etc., that no matter what, we all bleed the same blood. If you have a dream, that you should follow it, no matter what it is, even if people say that you should not do it, to not stop, do not listen to them, follow your dreams, wereever they take you.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

Some things that I can compare to my life today and in those studied in my project (1909-1983) are: that back then, women were just supposed to work as a teacher, then get married and mother their children. As of today, women Have so much choices, for work, for marrying and everything!
