Alberta Floods... will happen again.

My project is about the floods in southern Alberta that happened last year in June, 2013, and many other years in the past. The main focus is that it will happen again in the future.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

I think the most interesting thing I learned was how much rain fell in such a short amount of time. Southwest Alberta saw 200 mm in two days!

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

I want other Canadians to know why these floods happened, when they happened and that they will happen again. I think it is important to know how dangerous a flood can be and how to prepare for one.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

My life now compared to theirs is very different. We have clean water, electricity, clean houses and no clean-up to do for months. This teaches me not to build/live near rivers, and also to be prepared for disasters such as these.
