What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

I commuted with the Skytrain believing it to be a simple train system. This was before I did my research. After researching a topic that was close to my heart, I realized what a significant role it had played in Canada's history.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

The Skytrain system in Metro Vancouver has really helped the Urban development of Metro Vancouver all along it's train route. At large, this system has put Canada on the world stage by attracting huge companies from across the globe to the strong foundation in transportation located in Metro Vancouver. In my opinion, I strongly believe that the curtains behind Canada's place on the world stage for rapid transit is the Skytrain system.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

Today, I can just tap-in and tap-out with a fare card to use the Skytrain. I even have the choice to ignore the fact that this train system is not only nationally important, but globally as well. I can ignore the fact that a lot of hard work was put in behind this project. Though when I think about it, it must have been a lot of hard work for the people that actually worked on the project. Those people may even have had to use precious free-time to work so that the future could be a better one for generations to come. It is really worth remembering and recognizing all of the hard work.
