Terry Fox would make a difference in the world by fulfilling his dream to raise money for cancer research. The impact and legacy of Terry's goal for cancer research continues to grow and flourish year after year.
What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?
The most interesting thing that I learned, is how one person can make a tremendous impact and positive difference in the lives of millions. Terry's drive and determination has left a legacy and awareness for cancer research around the world.
What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?
In doing this project on Terry Fox, I have learned a very important lesson on never giving up and always following your dreams. As Terry Fox once said: "Anything is possible if you try, Dreams are made if people try."
How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?
The idea of running or doing anything else across Canada was a very original idea. Today, it is somewhat common to do big events of this magnitude. When Terry announced the idea, many people thought it was odd and unrealistic; yet, he persevered and has left a legacy that continues to flourish.
