The Underground Railway

I wrote a song about the Underground Railway talking about Harriet Tubman and what the Underground Railway was. I decided to write a song because when the slaves were working in the cotton feilds there songs had secret messages leading them to freedom.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

That it wasn't a railway and it wasn't underground. That the songs they sung had secret messages leading them to freedom. Harriet Tubman led thousands of people to freedom.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

The development of multicultural relationships has come a long way. Canada was known as freedom. It was called the Underground Railway because it was one certain route that you had to take to get to Canada (also known as freedom).

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

Today we all have equal rights and have freedom. Very multicultural here. No more slavery.
