The Manitoba Forestry Association and The Adventures of the Tree Planting Car

My project is based on the history of the Manitoba Forestry Association. I decided to build my project off of my essential question: What was the greatest achievement of the Manitoba Forestry Association? Why?

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

The most interesting thing that I learned about my topic was that a train car was used to educate the people on the prairies on the importance of planting trees. This was called the Tree Planting Car and it showed motion pictures and slides to communicate the information. This car had over 1.5 million participants.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

Some important lessons I have learned that I wish to share with other Canadians are to respect history and create history to benefit for the future of Canada. I know that in my project much of the tree planting was done to benefit the future. If we can all do something today to benefit tomorrow we will have a better world.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

I would say that my life is similar to the lives of the people who participated in the lectures of the Tree Planting Car, because I am learning about forestry as they did. However, I am learning about forestry using technology and books while they used experience and observation. I could too use experience and observation to learn about forestry, and make our lives even more similar.
