The Nelson Doyle Dancers

The Nelson Doyle Dancers is a volunteer oraganization that consist of boys and girls ages 5 and up. The group is instructed in traditional Irish Dance and travels around the Maritimes to put on shows for people!

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

I liked learning about Ellen and everything she did before I joined the group! She's had some amazing experiences that I'm sorry I missed out on!

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

Through my years of dancing with the Nelson Doyle Dancers I've learned that doing volunteer work is a great thing! Some kids don't have the money for dance lessons and this way they have the chance to do something with a group!

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

Back when Ellen first started the group they danced in Adidas sneakers, black pants and a white shirt. Now we have Ghillies (soft shoes), hard shoes and our traditional dresses!
