Martha Louise Black

My project is on Martha Louise Black, my great, great, great aunt. She was the first lady to climb the Chilkoot Pass as well as the Yukon's first female member in parliament.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

The most interesting thing I learnt about Martha Louise Black was how she continued to climb the Chilkoot Pass even though she was the only lady there.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

That if you research a little you can learn so many amazing things about Canadian history.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

Martha grew up and lived in a completely different time. Today we rely on technology to get us through the most simple things, but back then they had to do everything without the help of a modern technology.
