Flying Wonder

My project is about an old Swampy Cree story about Spirit man. A family found him and took him in. His name was Flying Wonder and he wished to marry the daughter. When he did, he abused her and the brothers got angry, so they enacted vengence on him for hurting their sister.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

I learned about other stories in Canadian culture that are similar. I learned that I can illustrate a story to make it come alive for the viewer.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

I have learned that you should not trust strangers, and that all cultures have stories about being careful with people who pretend to be what they are not.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

When I researched legends and stories, I learned you must trust your instincts when it comes to strangers and that I am a stronger person as a female who can make my own decisions today.
