The Undiscovered Discoverer - The Story of John Rae

This project is on John Rae, the arctic explorer. This video shows the way John Rae worked with the Inuit compared to other explorers. This shows how John Rae was shunned just for working with the Inuit.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

I really enjoyed learning about John Rae as a person. John Rae has made so many discoveries yet he is still is very unknown. Not only did he discover the fate of Franklin he also found the Northwest Passage (an incredible feat) and a cure for scurvy.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

Not to judge others but maybe take time to learn from them. In doing so, greater things can be achieved.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

A huge difference between then and now is the incredible amount of racism. Where as now most of the world considers each other as equals, back then, entire races were thought to be savages and disgraced anyone who worked with them.
