Nursing Past

My project is about my great-grandmother who was a nurse in rural P.E.I. beginning in the 1930s. Nurses at this time faced a lot of challenges.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

The most interesting thing was the discovery of a glass injection kit. It was my great-grandmother's graduation present in 1930.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

I would like Canadians to know that we need to carry on the examples from our history of caring for others.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

People in my great-grandmother's time had little money and had to work very hard. They still kept a positive attitude.
