The Magic of Maud
Our project is about Lucy Maud Montgomery, the author of “Anne of Green Gables.”
What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?
Even though Lucy Maud had such a hard life, she made the characters in her books happy. She stood up for female authors’ rights and that has inspired us to stand up for what we believe in.
What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?
We learned that we are fortunate to be alive today rather than in Lucy Maud’s day. We also realize that we should be thankful because we are better off than lots of other people in the world today.
How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?
We are much better treated and we have more opportunities as children and girls compared to when Lucy Maud lived. There are more things we can do, such as making this video! We have much easier lives because there are all these inventions that make our lives easier, like computers, telephones, and washing machines.
