Story of Ron Turcotte

My project is about my grandfather Ron Turcotte. He was a well known very sucessful Canadian jockey who accomplished international fame.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

The most interesting thing I learned about my topic was that my grandfather is one of the best jockeys of his time and the record he set while riding the most well known race horse of all time, Secretariat, of 31 lengths, still stands today.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

I learned that you can start from anywhere, from being born into a family of loggers and accomplish a lot if you're a hard enough worker. I learned a lot about my family's heritage and how my grandfather worked his way up to sucess.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

I would have to say that I don't know if people would be as dedicated at doing the best they can at their jobs today as well as back in 1973.
