John Peters Humphrey

My project shows the life and times of John Peters Humphrey, who was born in Hampton, NB. He lost his arm at age 7 and was bullied most of his life. Later on John wrote the first draft copy of the declaration of human rights.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

John Peters Humphrey was very badly bullied for most of his life because of the loss of his arm.He was able to over come that to be the director on the human rights committee.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

The main lesson I've learned from my project is, if you set your mind to something, go for it. Don't let anything get in your way like John Peters Humphrey.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

Back in the early 1900's bullying happened all the time because no body saw it as an issue and today it doesn't happen as often because now people do care and usually you can tell a teacher an adult or some one you trust.
