The Life Story of Carol Adele Nowlin

I decided to do my project on my grandmother Carol Nowlin. My grandmother and I are really close, and I wanted to learn about her life as a child. In this project I hope to show how much the world has evolved and the impact our elders have on us.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

The most interesting thing I've learned about my topic is the difference from then compared to now. Kids did not have any electronics or video games to play. also all of the things my grandmother did for fun when she was a child. She and her sisters mostly just had to use their imagination for fun!

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

I would like to show Canadians how important our elders are. Lots of things they did as a child have given people inspiration and ideas to make our world even better! Many people do not see the impact that they have on us. After this I hope that many people realize how important our elders are to this world!

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

It is definitely very different. There is many more things to do now these days. They had no TVs, iPods, and cell phones back then. I would say life is a lot more simple, and easier now because of technology.
