The key people in my project were the Canadian Royal Air Force Pilots who flew The Mosquito and Ronald Bishop who had the idea to build it. The main event for the Mosquito was being used during WWII to fight against the Germans. My final response to my inquiry were mainly three different reasons as to why The Mosquito was successful. They were versatility, it was a very multifunctional aircraft during the Second World War. Second was speed, it was able to reach very fast speeds and outfly enemy bombers. Finally the wooden construction, wood was much more available than metal, and wood made the plane lighter, which therefore it could go faster.
What sources and evidence did you consult for your project? What different perspectives did they provide on your topic?
The different sources I used for my project were several different websites, books, and people who had involvement with The Mosquito. The different sources allowed me to gather different information and items that I was able to show with my project.
What is the historical significance of your topic?
The historical significance of my topic is that The Mosquito was one of, if not the most notable bomber during WWII. The short term impact The Mosquito had was being a very successful bomber during the war, and long term was that it's still remembered for that success. The Canadian Air Force was affected, and used many of these bombers from 1943-1951. Unfortunately, the change that took place was finally retired in 1963.
Why did you choose this topic?
I chose this topic because I have always had an interest in planes, and wanted to take a closer look into this historic bomber.
