Step Inside the Orion at This Winnipeg Museum
If the recent buzz orbiting the Artemis II mission has piqued your curiosity about the astronaut lifestyle, the Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada will soon be able to give you a look inside the crew’s compact quarters.
The Winnipeg museum’s restoration team is creating a full-scale replica of the Orion spacecraft’s crew capsule. The final product will allow visitors to enter it and experience the confined environment that served as home for the four astronauts during the Artemis II mission. It’s part of the museum’s full year of space-focused programming.

“Canada’s role in lunar exploration is entering an exciting new phase, with innovative technologies being developed right here in Winnipeg at Magellan,” says Ron Drepaul, a board member at the museum and general manager of Magellan Aerospace’s Winnipeg location.
“An Orion spacecraft replica at the Royal Aviation Museum will give museum visitors a way to relive the mission experience and, we hope, spark curiosity to inspire the next generation to carry these important programs forward.”
The exhibit is being created in two phases, with the exterior expected to be complete by winter. The interior will follow next year
