The Next Chapter: Facing the Future, Together
Canada’s History Forum brings together 13 award-winning educators, creators, and community leaders passionate about history and heritage. Join the recipients of the 2026 Governor General’s History Awards as they share their projects and the innovative ways they bring history to life for audiences across the country.
The Forum will be a wonderful opportunity to discover their stories, exchange ideas, and connect with others who, like you, believe in the power of history and heritage to build connections and contribute to a more connected society. We hope to see you there!
The Canada’s History Forum runs from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at the Crystal Ballroom of the Fairmont Empress Hotel, 721 Government Street, Victoria, BC V8W 1W5.
Seating is extremely limited. Submitting a request does not guarantee attendance. You will be notified within one week if your in-person attendance is confirmed or waitlisted.
Please note that this is a bilingual event and will be simultaneously translated into French and English. There will be a question and answer period following each presentation. We also encourage you to continue the conversation online using #GGHistAward.
Nominate them today for the Governor General's History Award for Excellence in Teaching!
But please note: the nomination is just a first step; once nominated, nominees usually finish the application themselves and require a reasonable amount of time to respond to questions and collect supporting documents.
The deadline for this year’s award is April 1.
