100th Anniversary of the Death of Albert “Ginger” Goodwin

In this presentation, Robin Folvik and Anna Rambow discuss how their community came together to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the death of Albert “Ginger” Goodwin.

Hundreds gathered to take part in music, workshops, graveside ceremonies, art-making projects, a symposium, and the re-enactment of Goodwin’s funeral procession, based on the iconic photograph taken on August 2, 1918.

This presentation was part of the Making Personal Stories Big panel at the 12th Canada's History Forum, Small Stories, Big Ideas, held on January 19, 2020.

Robin Folvik is the Interim Executive Director and Anna Rambow is the past Engagement Coordinator at the Cumberland Museum and Archives. Both sit on the Miners Memorial Working Committee.

Governor General's History Awards Winner 100th Anniversary of the Death of Albert “Ginger” Goodwin is a recipient of the 2019 Governor General’s History Award for Excellence in Community Programming.
