Canada's History Seeks Senior Editor

Are you an experienced editor, dedicated to top-notch magazine journalism? Are you passionate about Canadian history and the communities and stories that make up this diverse country? Canada’s History magazine may have the career you are looking for.

As Senior Editor, you will:

  • substantively edit long and short stories for engaging features and departments
  • line edit and fact check for polished, accurate copy
  • collaborate — both in person and remotely — with the Editorial Director and the larger team to create editorial lineups and help with story assignments
  • take part in all editorial meetings
  • proofread at a high level with great attention to detail
  • occasionally write long and short articles
  • take on other tasks as needed

Desired experience and qualifications:

  • Degree or diploma in journalism, creative communications or a related field
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of magazine editorial experience
  • Superior substantive and line editing and proofreading; writing and story generation
  • Outstanding command of the English language
  • Proven ability to work independently and with a team
  • Working knowledge of both oral and written French (an asset)


Other:

  • This in an ideal role for a mid-career professional seeking room to grow and learn, but experienced enough to work competently and professionally without much need to day-to-day guidance.
  • This full-time employee position reports directly to the Editorial Director.
  • This position can be remote.
  • Salary: $75,000/yr plus benefits
