Canada’s role in the Great War consisted of many responsibilities such as helping the Allies (a group of countries that consisted of countries such as Britain, Russia, and more during World War 1 that teamed up to take down Germany) in battle, aiding other countries, fighting for their country, taking land, defending land, taking responsibility for their fights, and being involved in major conflicts that occurred during World War 1 such as the battle of Somme, the 2nd Gas Attack (otherwise known as the battle of Ypres), the battle of Vimy ridge, and the battle of Festubert. Canada fought in Europe, primarily France because most of their allies were in Europe.

What sources and evidence did you consult for your project? What different perspectives did they provide on your topic?

I found my information on multiple sources; such as Vimytojuno.ca, Warmuseum.ca, and more! These websites helped me and my partner, CJ find the right information about what happened in World War 1, what battles occurred during the big conflict between nations and countries, the weapons the Canadians used, the story behind Canada’s role in World War 1, what Canada did to aid their allies, and much more that covers lots of the information about Canada in World War 1. On my tri-fold, I added QR codes next to my pictures about battles and information about World War 1 so that once you scanned them on my tri-fold, it would lead you to the website that I got my information from if they want more details about a specific thing.

What is the historical significance of your topic?

World War 1 affected Canada in many ways during the war and after the war for example; it’s economical state, it’s social state, and it’s military state. It cost Canada nearly $2 billion to rebuild all of the cities and areas that got destroyed/impacted from World War 1, and nearly 60,000 Canadian troops passed away plus, more than 170,000 were injured. There were lots of people and families that got affected during this war not only because of the conflict itself but some of their family members passing away as well.

Why did you choose this topic?

We picked this topic because it really interests us on what was happening back in the old days of Canada. Military and power is one of the most important aspects to a country, including Canada, which is why we picked this topic because it hugely impacted Canada and it’s people.
