Ross Bay Villa

Ross Bay Villa was built in Victoria in 1865. It is in an area that was in the countryside when it was built. A colonist from England, Frank Roscoe, moved into it with his family in 1865 and they lived there until 1879. I learned it was almost torn down in 1999 but was saved because it was one of the last houses from this time period in Victoria.
What sources and evidence did you consult for your project? What different perspectives did they provide on your topic?
I used the Victoria Archives for my primary source of information and the Ross Bay Villa website for my secondary source.
What is the historical significance of your topic?
It has been restored to be like when the Roscoe's lived there in 1865 and this is why it is historically significant.
Why did you choose this topic?
I think it is important to learn about Ross Bay Villa because it was one of the first houses built in Victoria. It is expensive to run and because of this it may not be around forever. I think you should definitely go see it if you are visiting Victoria! I think it is important to learn about the history of where you live.
