Across Canada, community organizations are making significant efforts to preserve and share their local stories. From exhibits and civic engagement events to oral histories and preservation projects, these initiatives bring communities together in new and exciting ways.

Each year, the award honours two innovative programs or initiatives that commemorate unique aspects of our heritage and encourage greater public interest in the past. Recipients receive a cash prize of $2,500 each and a trip for two to attend the award ceremony in Ottawa.**

Deadline for complete projects is July 15, 2021.

Don’t delay—nominate a project today!

(Note that if you want to put forward your own project or a project you are involved in, you do not need to go through the nomination process before applying. You can directly submit your project to us by filling out an online application here.)
