Shaping the next generation of active citizens is no easy feat. That’s why the Parliament of Canada helps educators across the country prepare for it. Our free resources – including a slew of new resources – are offered in both official languages and designed to kickstart classroom conversations around democracy and government. Are you looking to shake up your civics, literacy or drama courses this year? Try our new and improved parliamentary simulations. In this redesigned suite of five full-class simulations, students take on the roles of parliamentarians, journalists and everyday Canadians as they engage in the daily work of Parliament. Watch your students become invested in different causes and role-play their way through question period, committee meetings, media scrums and other parliamentary proceedings.

The Census Stories Across Canada activities offer a deep dive for math, social studies, geography and civics students. Using a new interactive map developed by the Library of Parliament, this cross-curricular suite introduces students to the Canadian census and invites them to consider how population data influences representation across the country.

Is digital literacy on your mind? With students exposed to an ever-growing variety of digital content, helping them identify trustworthy information is critical in preventing the spread of mis- and disinformation. In Truth Sleuths, students put their critical thinking skills to the test and learn new strategies. This brand-new activity comes complete with a teacher’s guide, PowerPoint presentation and student worksheet. It can also be played as a standalone online game or on paper in this PDF version. 

For younger students, or the young at heart, the new Indigenous Art at Parliament colouring booklet can be downloaded for free. Launched in June 2026 for Indigenous History Month, this new resource showcases a selection of works by Indigenous artists at Parliament and can support learning across a range of curricular areas. Use it to prompt conversations about identity, community and belonging; to integrate arts and culture in your social studies, language arts or science lessons; or to be the focal point of a visual arts unit by exploring the styles, media and stories represented.
