Rose Fine-Meyer presents at the 2015 Canada’s History Forum on researching the lives of women.

Hosted by Canada’s History Society

Posted October 15, 2015

Dr. Rose Fine-Meyer discusses her research on the inclusion, or exclusion, of women in history curricula. She suggests that teachers need to give a voice to those who are usually omitted from the dominant narrative, including women of diverse backgrounds.

Rose Fine-Meyer is a Senior Lecturer in the Masters of Teaching program at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto. Her research focuses on history education in Canada, and her dissertation examined the ways in which narratives of Canadian women were integrated into the Ontario history curriculum in the second half of the twentieth century. Her local women’s history talk series, herstoriescafe.com, received a Heritage Toronto Community Award in 2012. She also received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and the Governor General’s Award for Excellence in Teaching Canadian History (2007).
