In this presentation, Blake Seward asks the question, “how do we move away from Canadian history being the second most disliked subject in school?” He explains how his Lest We Forget project engages students, fosters historical thinking, and forms meaningful connections. 


This presentation was made during the fifth Canada's History Forum on December 9th, 2012 at The Canadian War Museum in Ottawa, Canada. 

Blake Seward is the 2006 Recipient of the Governor General's History Award for Excellence in Teaching, founder of The Lest We Forget Project, and co-director of the Battlefields of Europe professional development tours for teachers.

Aborder l'Holocauste

Anne Marguet has a master's degree in history, with a specialization in the history of migrations in the 20th century. She was a high school history teacher, first in France and then in Quebec, for 20 years. She has held the position of education coordinator at the Montreal Holocaust Museum since 2019.

Teaching on the Frontlines of Reconciliation

David A. Robertson was the 2021 recipient of the Writers’ Union of Canada Freedom to Read Award as well as the Globe and Mail Children’s Storyteller of the Year. He is the author of numerous books for young readers including When We Were Alone, which won the 2017 Governor General's Literary Award.
